Information from PayGrade

• PayGrade analyzes data as reported in the Wisconsin Deptartment of Public Instruction's (DPI) Public All Staff Report.
• When errors in the Public All Staff Report are identified, PayGrade may correct those errors within PayGrade’s internal dataset. In these instances, PayGrade will make Data Correction List available to users.
• The number of Years of Experience listed for individuals includes all experience as a school employee, not only the position the person currently holds.
• PayGrade uses student enrollment totals from the DPI's 2025-2026 Pupil Count report. PayGrade will use the enrollment count for the year that most recently has the Public All Staff Report published, meaning enrollment counts may not be accurate and up to date. Only districts who have officially submitted data to the DPI will have enrollment counts. To include districts without enrollment counts, the minumum student enrollment parameter will need to be set to 0 or left blank.

Information from the DPI:

The report is provided on request as a comprehensive record of all staff reported working in the Wisconsin PK-12 Public School System during the regular school year. All public education agencies are incldued (public districts, Cooperative Educational Service Agencies, State education facilities, County Children with Education Disabilities Board Agencies/Schools, and charter schools).

Each record represents one assignment. Staff persons may have more than one assignment, but can be uniquely identified by a Research ID number. Salary and fringe (employee benefit) amounts are duplicated for individuals with multiple assignments. For staff that have multiple assignments, PayGrade will only include their salary and fringe amounts during calculations; however, the staff member can be located based on all assignments.

Clarifications

• Local Experience: the number of years the staff person has been employed by the reporting hiring agency, to the nearest half year.
• Total Experience: the number of years the staff person has been employed by any education agency, to the nearest half year. Total years of experience counts the number of years working at any educational agency down to the nearest half-year mark and including the current school year. This should also calculate time worked at both public and private schools. Include staff members who have assignments that require contracts and include any experience working in the educational field anywhere in the world (source).
• Total Salary: the total salary reported for a staff person by the reporting hiring agency. If an individual has more than one assignment, then the total salary amount is duplicated for each assignment.
• Total Fringe: the total fringe (employee benefit) reported for a staff person by the reporting hiring agency. If an individual has more than one assignment, then the total fringe amount is duplicated for each assignment.
• FTE: the full-time equivalency (FTE) for the reported assignment.
